Edinburgh, Scotland's capital or Glasgow, Scotland's biggest city are bustling with both historical and modern attractions. The streets are always alive and many festivals throughout the year provide various attractions to be seen. Hear pipers piping or get a kilt specially made as both cities entertain. Both cities have some great shopping centres from well known to original stores.

Architecture is a huge part of Glasgow with the infamous Art Nouveau designs of Charles Rennie Macintosh and Edinburgh Castle sitting high above Princes Street Gardens cannot be ignored. The new Scottish Parliament may also entice with its bold modern design against the old city. But if the cities with their pubs and nightclubs are not idyllic enough, then the smaller towns are not to be missed.

Ayrshire on the west coast provides access to the Isle of Arran and Millport – hire a bike for the day and cycle the 10.5 miles around the whole island. There are some of the best Golf Courses including that in Troon while further into the centre of Scotland surrounded by spectacular landscapes ideal for hill walkers and those that love the outdoors.

Visit the Annie McLeod Experience in New Lanark, the restored 18th century cotton mill village. Discover Bannockburn Heritage Centre in Stirlingshire as well as Stirling Castle for a little history.
