Local Attractions
There are interesting shops, inns, restaurants and an intriguing historical Town Walk. The area's main attraction is Bala Lake or Llyn Tegid, the largest natural lake in Wales, bordered by beautiful scenery and a narrow-gauge railway that attracts thousands of visitors each year.
Bala Lake is the largest natural lake in Wales and is about 4 miles long and 140 feet deep. Some 129 species of birds visit the lake including heron, snipe, cormorants and coots well as swans.
13 species of fish inhabit the lake including the rare Gwyniad, it is only found in Bala Lake. Bala itself is a very old town dating back to 1307 during King Edward II reign.
It was also stated that this area of Wales was in turmoil: rife with thieves and bandits Gwylliad Cochion and others. This page only gives a very small insight into the history and information of Bala, visit the town and get the full story.

White Water Kayaking – a 2 day introduction to White Water Kayaking, for those with a little experience (or with no experience, good balance, and a will to work hard!). We will start with a flat-water session to practice the basic skills, and then it is on to the adrenaline pumping white water for the rest of the weekend! We usually include skills such as sweep strokes, edging, low brace support, low brace turns, hip flicking, high brace support, river hazards, breaking in/out, ferry gliding, swimming in white water, route choice and equipment choice.
Standard £188.00pp
White Water Open Canoeing – a 2 day introduction to White Water Open Canoeing, closely following the syllabus for the White Water Kayaking course, but looking at all the relevant skills for paddling an Open Canoe!
Standard £188.00pp
Rock Climbing – a 2-day introduction to this exciting sport! We can't promise to teach you everything there is to know about Rock Climbing, but we can cover all the basics, including climbing equipment, safety, rope work, bouldering, belaying, abseiling, anchors, grading, guidebooks and leading. We'll show you different climbing techniques such as jamming, smearing, mantle shelving, lay backing and chimneying. Plus, with stunning views of the local countryside from some of the best crags in the area, you can't afford to miss out!
Standard £178.00pp
Mountain Biking Skills – a 2-day course to introduce you to the skills of the Mountain Biker, including setting up and checking your bike, basic safety equipment, ascending, descending and cornering techniques, navigation and emergency repairs. At the same time you will be riding on local forest and mountain trails, covering 15-25 miles per day and around 1000 feet of ascents. You will need a reasonable level of fitness but we won't race along at top speed – we'd rather enjoy the great views and descend in control!
Standard £168.00pp
It's Gorge-ous! – A 2-day Gorge Walking extravaganza! On the first day we will visit two local gorges, one of which is exclusive to ProAdventure, and on the second day we will head into Snowdonia to experience one of the biggest and best gorges in Wales. Each gorge is different with its own jumps, slides, pools and waterfalls, and nature is at its best in these beautiful hidden places.
