Local Attractions
The historic castles of Alnwick, Bamburgh, Chillingham, Dunstanburgh, the walled town of Berwick upon Tweed and the ancient villages of Ford and Etal all provide a unique experience for visitors.
The Cheviot Hills close by can be enjoyed by walkers and climbers or those of us who just enjoy peace and quiet and a beautiful location. Golfers can choose from a dozen courses locally.
Belford village provides the visitor with a Post Office, convenience store (where you can get cash-back), craft gallery, café and a variety of interesting shops.
The Bluebell Hotel and The Black Swan Hotel are both a short walk from Market Cross Guesthouse. A comprehensive bar meals menu or a-la-carte menu is available.
Children's menus are available from both the local restaurants.
There are many excellent restaurants and country pubs within a short drive or taxi ride of the village. We can make recommendations and book on your behalf.

Bamburgh Castle, Farne Islands, Berwick upon Tweed, Walk the Elizabethan walls of this ancient border town. Visit Berwick Town Gaol and covered Butter Market.
Holy Island
Lindisfarne Priory - visit the ruins of the medieval priory built by Benedictine monks from Durham. Breathtaking walks around the island -can be enjoyed by all. Be warned - careful note of safe crossing times of the causeway that links the island to the mainland is essential.
Bamburgh
Only 4 miles from Belford is the spectacular castle and beaches of Bamburgh. Visit the famous Copper Kettle coffee shop and Grace Darling Museum.
Grace Darling Museum
Exhibition of artefacts associated with her life and her part in the rescue of
survivors of the 'Forfarshire'
Budle Bay is a must for those with even a passing interest in bird watching.
Bamburgh Castle Golf Club a testing 18 hole course with dramatic views.
Seahouses
A bustling sea side resort and fishing harbour where a succession of boats take visitors out to the Farne Islands to see the colonies of grey seals, puffins and other sea birds.
Alnwick
Alnwick castle is the home of the Duke of Northumberland whose family, the Percy's have owned it since 1309. Take a walk around the town or visit the
Alnwick Garden a new project commissioned by the Duchess of Northumberland. Included in the walled garden is a water feature and a newly opened tree house.
The castle is open to the public - you may recognise various views as the castle has often been featured in films and television productions.
For Harry Potter fans a visit to the castle is a must as it was the location of "Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry" in the film "The Philosopher's Stone".
Chillingham Castle
Surviving as a battle scarred fortress from medieval days of Knights, horses and armour, Chilllingham castle retains its ancient defensive format unspoilt. Famous for its ghosts and torture chamber - possibly the most haunted castle in England.
Chillingham wild cattle. The unique herd of wild white cattle has lived in the park for at least 700 years.
Cheviot Hills - fantastic opportunities for walking and enjoying the solitude of the area.

Accommodation:
The Red Room is situated at the front of the house with views of the village and countryside beyond. This is a spacious and elegantly decorated room (refurbished in 2007) which has all the benefits of a large bed-sitting room. A king size bed, electric fire, coffee table, comfortable settee and a 32" flat screen TV with free view is provided.
With the en-suite bathroom The Red Room is a firm favourite with our regular guests.
The Tartan Room also at the front of the house has stunning views of the 17th
century parish church of St.Mary.
Twin beds or a very large "zip and link",
comfortable leather armchairs and flat screen TV with freeview is provided.
The large en-suite bathroom has a huge roll top bath and corner shower and gives a real touch of luxury.
The Yellow Room over looking the courtyard and gardens at the back of the house is twin bedded with a shower/bathroom en-suite.
Comfortable chairs, flat screen TV with freeview and well stocked courtesy tray are provided.
This is a lovely sunny room with a peaceful outlook.
