M4, then M5, at the end of which it becomes the A38
When about 16 miles short of Plymouth on the A38 you will approach three places. The Rattery, South Brent, and IvyBridge
You want to turn off on the A3121 - the Wrangaton exit from the A38 - signposted to IvyBridge, and the railway station park and ride there (You are still 5 or 6 mile short of IvyBridge, but the next exit is beyond the town). It also has local signposts to Ermington, Loddiswell and Modbury.
At the top of the slip road, turn left. Proceed for about 1 1/4 miles. At the next proper cross roads (i.e. where you have to stop) - go straight over towards Loddiswell.
After 3/4 mile, the first house you come to on the right is Fowlescombe Lodge, at a small crossroads called Fowlescombe Gate. You have arrived at the property. See photograph.
Turn right through the very large stone gate posts. The gates open automatically when you get close to them, if you arrive during the day. Otherwise let us know you are coming (01548 821000) , or ring the bell marked Farm to the right of the gate and ask to be let in. Drive past the Lodge and 400 metres down the track to the farm. Turn right at the gate with two small stone balls on them and park up near the house. The visitors centre and holiday cottages are next to the house.
