There are three fascinating castles located within an hours drive, including the Eilean Donan Castle which is known around the world.
There are plenty of whisky distilleries in the area for you to visit, many of them run tours at set times and these are well worth catching for a bit of history and even a dram of whisky if you're lucky!
For the children there's the Hogwarts Express, a train which runs along the bottom of the valley where Harry Potter was filmed.
Fort Augustus has plenty of shops for both souvenirs and general shopping during your stay; also a good selection of restaurants, pubs and cafes.
There are beaches located roughly an hour away from Glenlivet so do try to plan one of your days around a trip to the beautiful Scottish seaside.

Luxury mezzanine apartment Glenlivet is part of an old converted Benedictine Monastery situated on the shores of the beautiful Loch Ness; Highland Club Direct is a spectacular conversion of the Grade I Listed Building, and Glenlivet is simply stunning.
The large three bedroom apartment will sleep six in its two double and one twin room. The Master bedroom has its own luxury en-suite bathroom which is tastefully decorated with both bath and shower. The twin room overlooks the cloisters on the mezzanine and has a fabulous view across the lounge and through the large windows in the room below. Stylish and high quality furniture in all three bedrooms give them a traditional look, and comfortable beds will leave you feeling refreshed and alive in the morning.
The lounge is dominated by a fabulous window which allows lots of good Scottish sunlight into the apartment; the ornate and intricate design of the window is a real focal point in the apartment and definitely the thing which will draw your attention time after time. Tasteful décor and comfortable, stylish furniture make this the perfect place to relax in the evening after a day exploring the area.
An open plan kitchen in Glenlivet is fully fitted with all mod cons including dishwasher, cooker & hob, fridge, freezer, washing machine and anything else you need to prepare your meals during your stay. The kitchen has beautiful lighting and is finished with marble worktops, with all utensils and appliances being of the highest specification. A dining area, also open plan, lies adjacent to the kitchen and comprises a beautifully made large dining table and chairs to seat six. The dining area looks out over the cloisters and towards the village, while the kitchen has an excellent view over the cricket pitch.
The entire apartment is tasteful, stylish and luxurious. Stunningly furnished throughout with relaxing neutral décor, it's more than just a place to stay while you're on holiday. To keep you entertained in the evening there's satellite TV, CD system and radio or pass some time playing board games. The terrace and garden are beautiful quiet areas in which to relax with a glass of wine after dinner while the kids' play in the fresh air. The apartment has central heating and a generous welcome pack is provided upon arrival. Children are welcome and with the great Loch Ness literally on your doorstep this makes for a truly special family holiday.

The beaches of the West Coast of Scotland are around an hour away and are definitely worth travelling to, or hop across the Kyle of Lochalsh bridge to the beautiful Isle of Skye.
