The charming market town of Woodbridge and famous Anglo-Saxon burial ground at Sutton Hoo are both just two miles away, as is the A12 which gives easy access North to Thorpeness, Aldeburgh, Dunwich, and Southwold and the other well known towns along Suffolk's unspoilt heritage coastline. We also recommend that you head South down the A12 to Dedham and Flatford Mill in the heart of stunning Constable Country.
For the children, there are plenty of activities such as horse and bike riding in the nearby forestry trails, interacting with animals at Easton Farm Park, exploring the Castles at Orford and Framlingham, and visiting Buttrums Mill, the 19th Century Wind Mill in Woodbridge.
For those who enjoy military history, our strategic location relative to Europe means that we have a large selection of places of interest, such as Landguard Fort at Felixstowe with its curved seven casemated gun battery, the famous Battle of Britain RAF base at Martlesham Heath, Bawdsey Manor which was the birthplace of Radar, the Cold War Museum at RAF Bentwaters Air Base, and the secret military research facility at Orford Ness.
For something altogether more peaceful, there is nearby Snape Maltings, which is located on the banks of the River Alde. It comprises of a unique collection of Victorian granaries and malthouses housing individual shops, galleries, painting courses, restaurants, a tea shop and, of course, the Concert Hall itself, which plays host to many concerts and recordings made famous by Benjamin Britten.
