Fun day out

"The beach is long and clean, with plenty of room to relax, lay your towel down and vegetate whilst the kids paddle in the water (well on a warm day anyway). Right next to the beach we have a brilliant fairground, which holds some of the scariest rides I have seen. I used to think I was brave by going on the waltzer or the ghost train.
There are plenty of rides for children plus loads of amusement arcades. The fair always have some sort or bargain on such as £20 of tickets for £12.50, so the children get a good day out and its easier on your purse. There is also a bowling alley.
Across the road from the fair is a large pond which is great for the kids as there are hundreds of swans there which are great to feed, the pond also hires boats which you can row across to the island in the middle. around the pond is an old fashioned steam train, 50p per person to get drivin around the park, which the kids love. there is also a large grass area for football, picnics or just to lie in the sun, plus there is a childrens play park.
There are loads of B&B's running along Ocean Road, with plenty of places for meals out, take your pick, Chinese, Indians,Pizza'a etc.
South Shields has a great night life with loads of Pubs and wine bars within walking distance of the beach. The pubs are situated in the shopping area where all the main shops are based, Asda, Boots, Woolworths plus Debehams, BHS & Next have just opened new stores.
South Shields is growing with more popularity, theres loads to do and places to see.

A great place for all the family, plenty to do whether you want to relax or have some fun and jump on a ride or 2. The kids will love the beach and fair (but not in the winter)
In the summer months the place comes alive, with the Cookson parade dedicated to The author Catherine Cookson and Tommy trumpeter who entertains the kids with shows and games all through the 6 weeks holidays.
Chilren are well catered for In South Shields, the only thing we cant promise is the weather :)"
