"Knowsley Safari Park is just off the M57 at junction 2 and is easy to reach as for the many brown "wildlife" signs. It is a enchanting day out that will that will make your childrens faces light up with magic and laughter as they explore the world of animals that is Knowsley Safari Park. This is a car attraction, but there is Free parking so you can walk around the accesable area's.Theres also an option to buy a guide when you come in, this is only a few quid but you get a fully detailed map and insites about animals you'll see, also a FREE cd or cassette telling you fact about the animals you'll see as you see them. Here there are over 30 species of mammals, roaming huge acres of land, with the exeption of some birds, reptiles and invertebrates, and some other suprises! Knowsley is an all day attraction, but just make sure you have enough petrol, as you dont want to break down inside the lion area! They have a wide variety of animals ranging from antelopes to zebra's, wild buffalo to baby black rhino most of these "larger" animals you can drive through or around. You can wind down windows were allocated and you can take pictures but with no flash as this may startle the animal and can put both you and the animals in danger. I'd reccomend you take a packlunch or some snacks as looking at all these animals is hungry work. Another great thing about here is, some shops do special discounts in conjunction with knowsley so theres always a good deal going.
Its not just animals here No, No, No knowsley have a spectacular flower display in the summer with many flowers like bee orchids and pyrad orchids to wild fungi. In here nest some little visitors like Brown Hares, Stoats, Weasels, Grey Squirrels, and if you are in the right place at the right time Red Squirrels too! Another tip is bring a pair of binoculars if you have them so you can see the wildlife in more detail.
Theres also for an nominal fee an amusement "fun fair" with rides for both young and old a selection of these rides are
large pirate ship
carousel
jets
and thrilling viper roller coaster
an ALL day wristband is £9.00 not bad considering unlimited rides!
Another treat they have not for the scaredy cats is the BUG HOUSE entry is FREE and there are varius insects in here all in close up cages from leaf-cutter ants to death\'s head cockroaches and ofcourse a few poison frogs.
They have a sea-lion show on trhoughout the day this is pretty cool its also free like the bug house and you can watch a family of sea-lions run, jump and do tricks very popular with younger children. At the end there is a chance for you to ask the experts questions. This Takes place in the sea-lion and creepy crawlie building you cant miss it.
If you move away from the noise and excitement of the fun fair youll stumble accross peaceful "Mizzy Lake Farm" allmost like a petting zoo, young children can stroke, cuddle and help feed babay aminals such as
Llama
Goats
Pigs
Rabbits
Donkeys and Guinea Pigs
There are restaurants scattered around but you can always bring a packed lunch if you like. Rest assured its all very clean and fresh here, as knowsley try and make it as natural for the animals as possible.
Knosley was opend in 1971 by the 18th earl of derby and is still going today with new arrivals every month. So theres alway's something new to look forward to. They also do varuis competition so keep an eye out for them. You can have birthday parties here and meetings too.
