"After living here a few years, this was one of the few pubs I had never ventured into before. From the outside it looks like one of the few traditional pubs left in the town centre. And it is. It has one bar, which always has two staff members at least, so you never have to wait to be served, it has two fruit machines, a dart board, they have dominoes and skittles tornaments, and sky tv, and a big screen tv.
The people there are increadibly friendly, and although most of them have been coming for years and know each other well, they aways seem happy to welcome newcomers.
During the day, there is usually horse racing on the tv (William Hill is across the road), or any other important sport that tends to be on that day.
The main clientelle do seem to come from the older generation (you can get a good pint of mild), but there are younger people too.
The pub doesn't serve food or accept credit/debit card payments, but they do serve fresh sandwiches and the usual pub snacks such as scampi fries.
There is a function room upstairs for anyone who wants the room to themselves.
The beers on offer are, Carling (and Carling cold), Fosters, Guiness (and cold Guiness), Worthington Creamflow, Stella (A little high priced at £2.70 a pint), mild, and Tetleys, along with all other drinks you would expect.
A nice pub which has a local feel even though its in the centre of town. If you want a quiet pint with some friendly faces I'd recommend it."
