"Forget that safari park you've been saving up for, check in at London Zoo today to sightsee the world's most exotic animal species at a fraction of the price! Easter 2006 they are introducing 'Into Africa' event which allows you exclusively to encounter Africa's striking animals on display! Forthcoming events on specific dates this year, includes Butterfly Paradise day! Anyone who has a bizarre fascination with Butterflies, or simply curious about these exquisite creatures, just tag along anytime between 1 April – 31st Oct 2006! On the other hand, if you are an environmentalist or a strong supporter of recycling, you may be inclined to join the lecture on 20 June 2006 for a lecture about unsustainable development and climate change!
The zoo is conveniently segmented to 4 main divisions, namely; mammals, birds, invertebrates and reptiles. There is unquestionably an animal lover in all of us - whether you are the more daring type, who is keen on ferocious Asian Lions and Sumatran tigers, or you are fonder of adorable Rabbits and Otters – there is an animal for everyone's taste. The reptiles and fish family certainly deserve a category of their own, boasting one of the widest variety of species you will discover. Despite the slow momentum of turtles, they are most captivating to look at, and London Zoo houses many species from Giant Asian Pond Turtles to the Pancake Turtles, whose name depicts its unique flat-like appearance! For snake enthusiasts you are in for a treat – there is the rare snouted Cobra which are notorious for the venomous poison and highly aggressive nature! They are extremely fatal, so thank your lucky stars for the barricade that separates you from the snake! For most people, Komodo Dragons is a mythical creature, but in fact they are the largest lizards in the world! They encompass a deadly bacteria in their saliva which can strike down a prey within seconds.
Let me be a warning to you now – the Insect house is not for the faint-hearted! Prepare to watch the most extroverted among us melt at the sight of some of these creepy-crawlies! The wide range of insects includes red ants, giant spiders and Fregate beetles. It may come as a surprise that there are many insects that are part of the conversation scheme at London Zoo, and there is even a breeding programme which prevents the extinctions of insects!
Now that you are engrossed with the vast activities that are available at London Zoo, here are the nitty-gritty details for you to know:
[summer] Adult Ticket: £11.70
[summer] Child's Ticket [3-15 yrs]: £9.00
Child Ticket [under 3 yrs]: Free
On entry to the London Zoo you can even donate an optional £1.50 to conserving Gorillas! And if you decide to purchase tickets online, you are eligible for a 10% discount! And if you thought that London Zoo involved purely observing animals around the world then you couldn't be more wrong! London Zoo also actively encourages its visitors to host events in their grounds, this includes: conference, parties or even have your wedding there! Whatever your purpose at London Zoo you are guarenteed to have an animalistic time."
