"I was introduced to Wells-Next-The-Sea by my husband 10 years ago. We now stay at Pinewoods at least 3 times a year. He's from a family that have always gone there regularly for many years. You'll probably find other experiences about how much we love Wells, mainly for its unchanging 'chill-out' factor elsewhere on youstayuk.com.
Pinewoods Site, itself doesn't have many of the facilities, clubs, pubs etc featured in other places. What it does have is a location for a fantastic family holiday. We have visited Wells alone and in very large groups with a huge age range. No-body fails to have a good time.
There are the Pinewoods themselves, right next to the site. Kids can run themselves into the ground without parents having to constantly nagging them to keep the noise down, they gone on for miles! Just over dunes you have miles of stunning coastline.
In the evening (if the kids haven't insisted on hitting the pillow), you can take a stunningly beautiful walk to town which is just over a mile along the sea defance. You can see the moored boats on the sandbanks when the tide is out and fishing boats brining in their catches when the tide is in.
The walk is just long enough between the Pinewoods and the town and is one of my favourite walks like it on the UK (so far).
In town you have a few amusement arcades, pubs, shops and the lovely harbour area where the kids can while away hours with a crabbing line and bucket.
Back to the Pinewoods holiday park. There are pitches for camping (though not as many as previously), touring and static caravans and luxury lodges. We stayed last year in the largest of the lodges and you get an amazing 2 bathrooms, 4 bedrooms, large patio area, TV, DVD, dishwasher, etc. It was fantastic. But whatever you decide to stay in, the emphasis at Pinewoods is it's surroundings and it's perfect for the family.
If you need to know anything else about Wells, feel free to PM me."

I am 40 now and first went to wells at around age 5! The site has changed but for the better. I have booked a caravan for my family this August. I have so many great and fond memories of Wells, where I spent so much time with my late grandparents and late dad. There are trampolines, boating lake, bicycle hire and pitch and put as well as a mini steam railway which runs from the caravan site to the town all day and up to about 11pm at night. You can also hire beach huts here (I think Wells is only one of a few places in the UK that has them now! You can go into the next town and take a boat trip out to "Seal Island" where there are thousands of seals (in the water and on land). You can walk or cycle into Holkham (Holkham Hall/Pottery) as well. If the weather is good Wells is a lovely place to visit, great for bird watchers (the feathered kind) as well. | Lyn | 18/01/2009 |
