The Definitive Perranporth

"Perranporth, Cornwall is simply Breathtaking and beautiful. I have been on holiday here a few times now, and it is by far my number 1 UK destination. To start, the beach is wonderful. Golden sands run for miles, the sea glows - truly amazing. Its also very clean, safe and fun, fully supervised with lifeguards during peak season. On the sand is also a pub, offering a good selection of drinks, for young and old. Surrounding the beach is the town centre. Full of little gift shops, cornish pasty and ice cream parlours and resturants - basiclly typical, small seaside shops - run by locals. they have the hard drive internet cafe, so you can catch up on the news back home, with reasonable costs. If you are looking for a decent, honest pub, go no further than the Tywanhale. It is situated on the entrance to the main beach car park. run by Phil and his wife, the staff are friendly, the food is of a very good standard, and there is a wide selection of drinks including house spirits. They are very welcoming to tourists, and you can even take part in the quiz or other events they have to offer.

Where to stay:

Budget - There is the perranporth youth hostel, situated in a wonderful position, beside the beach. An absolute must for young and old alike, especially students, as it offers a great base for surfing on one of the best surfing beaches in cornwall.

B+B/Hotel - I cannot comment on bed and breakfasts in general, but situated just outside perranporth, in Goonhavern, there is a guest house, which offers a good standard of accomodation, just away from the hustle and bustle of the busy centre. great for relaxing

Camping - There are a couple of camp/caravan type sites situated in and around perranporth (many in cornwall!) offering the usual facilities including club house, fast food, toilet/showers etc.

What To Do - There is plenty of things to do in cornwall, it is by far one of the most exciting places to visit in the UK. Close to perranporth you have the world of miniture (goonhavern) - It features all the worlds famous landmarks in bitesize minitures! Also, check out flambards, Lands End, Minack Theatre (breathtaking views!) and goonhilly. Try to be adventurous, explore the many facinating mines, spots of beauty and sights cornwall has to offer. Its full of history - and its there for you!

Drinking/Nightlife - There are several pubs in perranporth itself, as mentioned earlier, the Tywanhale is by far the best, but the others all offer their own unique style. For the big night out, it has to be Newquay, a £10-£15* taxi ride or £2* bus ride away (*est) At night, Newquay turns into party capital of the UK, with a huge amount of clubs, pubs, bars etc. There is a taxi company in perranporth called "Perran Cars/Taxis" and it is situared next to the off licence in the town centre (you can't miss it)

Food - there are many resturants in perranporth, from the cosy cafes to the Culinary Classic Indian resturant. There are also fish and chip shops, take away/fast food places and of course the famous pasty shops.

If you have always put off going to Cornwall because you think it is "boring" - don't knock it until you have tried it. Its full of life, and will be for many years to come. 5 Star!"
