Shaldon, not what I expected.Shaldon, Devon, England South WestRecommendation added: 10/03/2006 20:29 By: Rincewind (YSUK rating +26) Rincewind has been thanked 3 times for this contribution
"Me and the better half were staying in Teignmouth in Devon when we saw a sign, ferry crossings to the "quaint little village" of Sheldon. This seemed like a plan, but with me feeling sick if I walk on wet grass we decided maybe it would be better if we took the bridge, so armed with a picnic off we went.
What did I expect? walking down empty streets, looking at the views and a picnic on the beach, what did I get ? busy streets and a packed little town. It was great, there was loads to do. We started with the picnic, down a tunnel to the beach, great food for which I thank the better half, and some great views. A bit of a look around the town was next, until we saw yet another sign, Sheldon has a zoo!!. Its only small, no lions or elephants, but the birds were fantastic, a very interesting few hours. Then it was back along the bridge to Teignmouth, and that was the only problem, take a tip...use the ferry, the traffic can be bad. But well worth a visit." Was this recommendation useful?
