"Brilliant! I've lived in Birmingham all my life but have never visited this fantastic attraction on my doorstep until this weekend. I took the kids to what I thought would turn out to be an overpriced day out but we were all pleasantly surprised. Basically you follow a route through Cadbury World, visiting mini attractions as you go. The first section was my favourite; a walkthrough display giving an interactive and interesting overview of the history of chocolate. Included in this walkthrough is the chance to sample a small cup of Aztec-style hot chocolate which is absolutely delicious.
You carry on the tour pretty much unhindered, there's always a bit of a crush in the rooms which show Cadbury's commercials on a bank of TVs as only so many can comfortably see the televisions at the same time so there can be a bit of a wait if you want to see the whole thing. The same in the Victorian Street which has been built in Cadbury World, this part is worth having a good look round (even if you have to queue!) as there are some interesting displays in some of the mock shop windows.
I can't describe everything in Cadbury World because there's so much to see and do, but definitely have a ride on the Cadabra ride. Sit in a Beanmobile (what else???) and have a leisurely ride through Chocolate Bean land, where you can watch cute chocolate beans fishing and washing their clothes. My 6 year old loved this part of Cadbury World, particularly when she saw the bird out of the Mini Eggs ad! When we got to the end of the ride we'd unknowingly had our photo taken laughing at some inane exhibit - I had to buy a copy of the photo in a keyring and a magnet!
In a short tour of the factory you can sample the chocolate in it's liquid state (yum) and have a go at putting the choc coating on a chunk of fudge. Unfortunately this part of Cadbury World isn't suitable for wheelchair users or pushchairs because there is limited space and stairs, however Cadbury World is currently remodeling some areas in the tour to make access better.
As you go around Cadbury World you'll be given a selection of chocolate bars for you to take home, as even the smallest children get all the bars the average family will come home with around 30 assorted bars of chocolate. Bonus!
Another thing worth mentioning is Cadbury Land which is located outside of the main Cadbury World. This is a twenty minute show featuring all the kids' choc bar characters (the Curly Wurly man etc...) and is great fun for children - and the grown ups!
Cadbury World is more or less in the middle of Birmingham, so get on the motorway and as soon as you get within 10 miles of the attraction there will be clear brown signs pointing you in the right direction. Alternatively jump on the train to Bournville Station, which runs from the main New Street Station in Birmingham. Easy peasy, and well worth the trip."
