"The Palace Hotel has a reputation for being one of the nicest up-market hotels in Manchester. It's not true.
The hotel is way overpriced for what it is, the only justification being that it is in Central Manchester. The bedrooms aren't a bad size, but could seriously do with a refurbish. The furniture is somewhat old and tatty looking, and the tiles on the walls throughout are reminiscent of a Victorian toilet.
The Palace has plently of large conference rooms, but I personally wouldn't advise that you book any high-level or professional conference here. The furniture is that old that the corners and most of the polish is missing from the tables, and many of the chairs have holes and/or cigarette burns in them.
The only positive points are that the staff are extremely friendly and helpful, and that the food is delicious and plentiful."
