"One of my local watering holes, which recently under went refurbishment, to be honest it was in dire need. Well since they had the refurb they have new carpets, new layout and certainly a more welcoming team of staff on hand. The menu is set out Olde English style with many traditional favourites which do not often get a look in, in many of the pubs in walking distance. Not too cheap but almost curiosity creeps up with the menu, and although prices are high you get great value for money.
On my last visit (a treat from my other half) I was presented with a juicy 8 oz rump steak, chips, onion rings, mushrooms, peas and salad, to be quite honest I couldn't eat it all as there was so much there! Steak perfectly cooked although, slightly gristly, almost perfection.
Great old fashioned style with old beams and bare brick, with a carpet which doesn't scream look at me (for a nice change) and wooden tables and cushioned seats. Maybe one to leave until pay day but well worth a visit."
