Sunset on the North Norfolk coastCromer, Norfolk, England East Of EnglandRecommendation added: 28/07/2008 14:52 By: guidewell (YSUK rating 0) guidewell has been thanked 0 times for this contribution
"On the North Norfolk coast we have what artists call crepuscular light - a quality of light that is easy on the eye and gives you a crisp, clear and colourful landscape surrounded by a wide horizon under a deep bowl of a sky. Here the sun rises and sets in the sea, something you can only see on this little stretch of coastline and, boy, it's worth getting up for sunrise and going down to the beach to watch the sun set. Looking from Cromer towards the nearby village of East Runton there is an old glacial moraine lifting up above the flat fields such that when the sun sets below it there is a few minutes when the sun is invisible but its rays cast a glowing kaleidoscope of colours across the horizon. This brief afterglow is one of the most beautiful light shows south of the Aurora Borealis. NO two sunsets are the same and whatever the season, high summer or deep winter, its beauty even captivates those of us who live here and see it every day."
