"This delightful pub is located in the middle of the Huddersfield countryside close to Mirfield. It has spectacular views on a clear day it is possible to see for miles. It is wonderful stop off for a drink during a walk in the country or worth a drive it you fancy a pub lunch.
The pub has a very traditional feel with stone floors and lovely log fires. The logs are located in the entrance as you walk and on cold days you fine the fires are in use. When we visited it was freezing outside and there was a draft while waiting at the bar but we soon warmed up as soon as we took our seats close to the fire. It gives the place a homely cosy feel. There is plenty of seating including tables and benches. There is a seating area for families and children are make welcome. High chairs are available. The toilets were kept nice and clean and fit the feel of the place with old wooden doors.
The pub menu has lots of choice including light bites and sandwiches as well as main meals like steak and chips or fish pie. Food has to be ordered from the bar. I have had various items off the menu and all of them have been lovely I do enjoy their yummy chips along with a big crusty sandwich. But there is likely to be something for everyone's taste at reasonable prices.
The place has such a great atmosphere I can not recommend it highly enough the cosy feel along with the views makes it the perfect place to chill out on a Sunday afternoon for lunch with the family.
I would recommend planning your route before going as there are many ways of getting there its best for you to look up direction depending on where about your heading from. There is a car park to the front of the pub. It is a popular place with locals and can often be very busy on weekends and bank holidays.
