"A couple of weeks ago I visited the London Dungeons for the first time ever and can't recommend them enough as a great attraction. Educational, but still great fun - the actors bring the past alive with such enthusiam! Admitidly the queue was very long - I recommend you get there early! But they keep you moving along, and once inside there is so much to look at (including some very smelly rats!) that you forget about the time. The queue almost becomes part of the attraction! My only other moan might be the price, which at nearly £20 for an adult is a tad bit expensive. However, there are many different deals around that get you cheaper entry - you just have to look for them before you go (try train stations if travelling into London on the train)! Again, once inside you forget about the price - it not just an attraction, its an experience!

You move around the dungeons in a group of about 20 people, and are guided through time by actors who tell you about different periods in London's (more horrible) history. From Jack the Ripper, to the Great Plague, from Sweeney Todd to the Great Fire - they tell you some fascinating information, and also demonstrate some things - like torture equipment! The dungeons themselves look amazing, its very atmospheric! There are also two rides, one a boat ride which I think everyone would enjoy. The second is a drop from the gallows - not for the faint hearted! They do offer an alternative route out if you don't fancy the drop though!

There were a lot of children there when I went and they seemed to survive the experience pretty well, I think older children would enjoy it more though as younger children (or more nervous adults) might find it a little scary! Also you are on your feet practically the whole way around, so be prepared for some walking! Also once your group starts moving through there didn't seem to be any going back! On the other hand you are never far away from staff and they were all very helpful!

The Dungeons are easy to get to - sitauted on Tooley Street (just around the corner from the Tower of London), head for London Bridge on the underground and then follow the signs! There are toilets inside and a shop at the end, and of course the usual photo opportunity booth (I got a photo of me chopping my partner's head off!). Altogether a great experience, I can't wait to go back!"

Yes, I found this review very helpful. Although, I must admit, I'll probably be one of the nervous adults too! But still very curious to go.krisalis15/03/2008
