"Newcastle under lyme is one of those places that I went to a lot when I was at university and even though I live half an hour away now I still find myself going there quite a few times. It is a nice little place with a few things to do and is nice to just have a visit if you are around.

First how to find it:

Newcastle-under-Lyme
High Street
St5 1PT

By using the above address it will take you to a car park with lots of spaces and costs around £1 an hour so quite expensive but worth it so you don't have trouble parking. There are a few more car parks around but I always go to this one. Buses into Newcastle are fantastic as it has great bus links with neighbouring places such as Stoke-on-Trent and Hanley.

Newcastle is quite a sweet place and you kind of get the feeling you are in Yorkshire when you are there and I'm not sure why. The buildings are all nice and it is such a sweet little place with a good atmosphere. You don't tend to see litter around unless you are there on a Friday or Saturday night as there are lots of bars around.

Ok so lets go through exactly what you can do in Newcastle-under-Lyme.

Shopping:

I always begin with shopping as it is the most important to me. Newcastle has quite a few shops you will recognise such as New Look, Clarks, WHSmiths, Woolwoths and Gamestation. Then there are quite a few shops that are unique to Newcastle such as a fantastic sweet shop which sells all sorts of old fashioned sweets which are just delicious and I always make sure I visit here.

There are also a few clothes shops where you can find things you wouldn't normally see which is always nice in my opinion. For supermarket shopping there is a Morrisons and Tescos very nearby.

Eating:

Ok my next most important thing is where to eat. Fast food places such as McDonalds is near and there is also a pizza hut and a Wetherspoons which are great to eat in as always.

Newcastle does though have a good range of nice restarants which are worth a visit. One of my favourites is Azzuri which also serves fantastic Italian food and I always have a good meal with a good atmosphere when I go which is once a year for Christmas. Then you have the art of siam which is a thai place which is just yummy. Those are my two favourites.

Bars:

Newcastle has a lot of bars, probably to do with the fact that a lot of people from Keele University and Staffordshire University visit. My favourite ones at University if you want a loud night are Fluid and Revolution. If you want a quieter drink then you can try Wetherspoons, Yates's or the Hogshead which are a bit quieter.

Things to do:

Newcastle has a fantastic cinema called Vue Cinema and it is wonderful. Massive screens, comfortable seats and it is a well kept cinema which is fantastic. Then there is a pool place if you fancy doing that and also a swimming baths and a gym if you want to be healthy.

The other thing in Newcastle is the New Vic theatre which is lovely so is well worth seeing what is on there before you visit in case you fancy going.

There are hotels by Newcastle if you fancy staying and it has good link with the M6 motorway if you need to get somewhere. I think Newcastle-0under-Lyme is a great place and I do go quite a bit to the cinema there and also shopping with friends. Plus I always tend to eat here with people for special occasions so it really is a nice place and I do recommend visiting if you are near.

Thanks for reading.
