"As I live near Stafford now, I thought I would tell you about one place that I have visited a couple of times and would visit again in an instant. Now me and my fiancé love going on walks and generally exploring places so it comes as no surprise that we live castles. Stafford castle is near to us and to be honest there is not much there but it really makes for a nice day out. Hopefully I will get over to you within this review why it is so nice and if you are in the area you should visit.

First the address:

Stafford Castle
Castle Bank
Newport Road
Stafford
Staffordshire
ST16 1DJ

Ok so location wise it is right in the heart of Staffordshire and a very short drive away from Stafford town centre. If I am being honest I am not sure how you would get there if you didn't drive. You could obviously get a taxi from by Stafford train station or I think there is a bus route there so if you are on public transport then there are ways to get there and it won't take you long at all. In the car though, it is literally a two minute drive from the centre.

When you get near, there is a huge sign telling you where the castle is. You go through a short drive way and you come across a car park which I am pretty sure you can only get about ten cars on there but we have always managed. There are places just outside you can park anyway if it is full. The car park is free which is good and from there you will see reception.

In this small reception there is somebody on hand at all times to chat to you about the castle and give you information. Or, you could just buy an ice-cream or some snacks to take with you on your exploration. We usually take a picnic with us when the weather is nice because it is a nice area and in the warm weather everywhere is so pretty it is nice just sitting on the grass.

Now the actual castle is just ruins but it is still quite impressive to look at. It is on the top of a very small hill and when I say small anybody can climb this hill. The walls have not been restored as far as I could tell but there are bits which you can notice have been but I would say 99% of it is still original.

The castle is a light brown colour with lots of holes where windows would have been. You will always see children poking their heads through them or using the castle to play hide and seek with friends or family. It is nice to walk around and has lots of little nooks and crannies which is very sweet.

The castle is surrounded by green grass so you can certainly have a picnic here when the weather is nice. The whole setting is stunning and you can sit there and let all your troubles go away which is brilliant as the scenery is just lovely. Everybody seems to have a nice time when coming here so you shouldn't get any trouble at all.

Now if you want to go a walk you can just walk around all of the green and forestry there is there. We have spent hours wandering around and just enjoying ourselves which for us on a Sunday is a good way to get our minds off of work.

Another thing I should tell you about Stafford castle is that they do have different events there. One of my personal favourites is their open air productions of Shakespeare which are brilliant and so much fun. You just sit there in the middle of the countryside and just enjoy yourself while being entertained. The tickets for these are not much money, just over £12 and you can check when the productions are on via Stafford town centre or iti s usually all over the internet.

All in all I do think Stafford Castle is a great place and I love going there. It is nice if you want to just relax or even if you do want to just have a walk. I find it relaxes me and as I live so close it would be a shame not to go there. I really do advise going if you are in the area and if you do manage to get some sunshine then take a picnic. Well worth a visit.

Thanks for reading.
