"Browns is located in the heart of Leeds city centre it is in the The Light complex just off the headrow.
We went to browns of a typical summer evening this year its was pouring it down with rain. We went at 9 o'clock on a Friday night we hadn't made a reservation and but still managed to get a table by the window straight away so we didn't having to fork out for drinks at the bar while we waited there was in fact plenty of spare tables this evening.
I had never eaten in Browns before and it was not really what I expected to be honest I felt like we were having dinner in a green house not because of the heat but because there were plants hanging everywhere I found it a bit of an odd decoration and I'm not sure it really suited the restaurant or what over all look and feel they were going for.
I took a short while to get the waiter to come take out drinks order but when he came he seemed pleasant enough. Some of the other waiter appeared much more friendly although I though they were perhaps too friendly and it came across a bit fake.
Browns have currenlty introduced a new summer menu they serve classic dishes perpared freshly. There should be something for everyone with salads and seafoods as well as more tradtional dishes. Myself and my dinning partner both opted for the rump steak and this certainly was a very good choice. It was cooked exactly as we had request which makes a nice change as usually when we eat out places when I ask for mine well done it usually comes cremated. But this rump was perfect it also came with some giant asparagus tips, tomato and mushrooms which were all nice and the biggest portions of chips ever I couldn't finish them at all and neither could my dinning partner and usually we laugh that we eat like monsters so there was a lot of chips.
I went for the chocolate brownie for dessert with ice cream and this was another great choice so much so my dinning partner decided to eat have of it was well. It was covered in warm chocolate sauce which was just heavenly.
The food here was excellent I could not fault it. It was quite pricey our rump steaks were 17 pounds each but that was one of the more expensive items on the menu. By the time we added drinks a start and pudding the bill soon was adding up but if you want a treat and your willing to splash out then its great food.
One of the fun parts to evening was watching people running through the rain dodging the puddles and struggling with umbrellas. Great to have a window seat looking straight on to the city centre plenty to see and amuse you.
