"Weldon Woodland Park is always deserted wheneverI go there. Which is a real shame as it's a great place to let the kids go exploring.
It's a newly established park (2001), with heavy planting programme. The idea is to make it a wildlife haven in years to come.
There's a 40-acre area with grassland walks and adult fitness trail; bmx track, half pipe skateboard unit, junior football pitch; basketball pitch and 2 children's play areas.
I go there with my son to skate, but we use the basketball court to skate on the flat rather than the pipe things! we're not that good yet!
There are no toilets or cafe or anything like that yet, just a big expanse of green! So be warned if you have small children. However, it feels very fresh and natural there, and is perfect for a walk.
