"The Kingsgate shopping centre is a fairly new addition to Huddersfield town centre and the surrounding area is still currently been developed with new bars and restaurants appearing all the time.
When I first walked into the shopping centre I was amazed how bright and airy it is. The high glass ceiling lets in hugh amounts of light and makes the centre very modern looking. The centre is keep very clean and there are no signs of discarded rubbish anywhere. Within the centre there a are plently of benches were weary shoppers can take a rest after a hard slog round the shops and are great for people watching.
The centre is no where near on the same scale as the larger shopping centre in the north like Manchesters Trafford centre or Sheffield's Meadowhall. However it does have an impressive range of shops and stalls.
The largest department store is Betties and as you would expect from a large department store it stocks just about everything and also has a cafe to dine in. Some of the other major retailers located there include Next and TK Maxx. The centre has something for every shopper where your after clothes, electrical goods, jewelery, gifts or just about anything else you could want to buy. There is also a coffee inside the centre where you can re-charge yourself during your shopping.
The Kingsgate Centre is wheelchair and pram friendly its is easy to access all the shops and there are various lifts around the centre to access other floors. Also the centre has a Shopmobility which is a free service where wheelchairs and scooters can be hired from.
The centre opens from 9am - 5.30pm Mon-Sat and Sunday 10.30am-4.30pm
The centre has a large car park although it does get very busy on weekends as on Sundays its free to park there. The spaces can be rather tight so its best to take extra care when parking.
How to find it from the M62 follow the signs for Huddersfield, and Huddersfield Town Centre. Turn left onto the ring road, follow the signs for Kingsgate it is well marked and easy to find.
By public transport it is roughly a 10 min walk from both the bus station and train station.
