"Huddersfield sport centre runs special classes for little one's to get used to the water and have fun. They are a great way to aid your babies development as well as been great fun.
The classes themselves are 45 mins long although some younger babies may only be able to spend as little as 20mins in the water before become too tired.
The class instructor is wonderful with the little one's and even managed to remember everyone name. We were new to class and made to feel welcome. It was my sons first time in the water and she was great at giving me tips to insure he stayed happy in the water.
During the class songs are sung by everyone with actions that get the babies used to water so there not scared by been splashed. The babies adore the actions and older babies can copy their parents.
The babies also get to practise the skills they need for swimming and are encourage to kick their legs across the lengh of the pool.
Also During the class they are given toys to play with in the water. One of them was a watering can and they were given a shower using it and it really gets them feeling confident in the water. My son loves going i think its great exerise and he sleeps well afterwards.
The pool itself is a special baby pool which is extra warm and you can walk straight into the pool so babies don't get a nervous as you can hold them close as you both enter the water together.
The lessons run on both wednesday and thursday at 13.30 and 14.15. Its best to arrive a bit earlier so you have plently of time to get you and baby changed.
There centre changing facilites are excellent. There are changing tables as well as safty gates so your little one wont go anywhere you don't want them to.
Lockers require a 1 pound deposit.
The cost of the lesson is 3 pounds.
Car parking cost 60p for an hour.
