"Orgueil Castle has massively high walls and is a classic example of 13th century architecture. Like most castles it has gates allowing boats to go undetected in and out of the castle. Orgueil Castle stands high above the town overlooking the habour and played an important part during the wars, both world wars and civil wars since its construction. During the second world war The enemy came as close to England as Jersey and the castle itself formed as a major base for british troops to control the Germans. Full of 13th century heritage and furniture you can explore this castle at your own leisure and admire the views, This castle is full of secret passage ways and narrow winding stair cases so it is not reccommended for buggys and wheelchairs."
