"One of the larger towns in east Kilbride, but to truly understand the town you really have to visit it, when you look at pictures or hear people talk about this town, they never tell the whole story, most people forget to mention that there is a lot of history and country side to this town, not just the shops that most people seem to remember. So first we will start with places to stay, well you shouldn't be short of places as there are around 30 different places from B&B's, hotels, guest houses and travel inns. For places to eat there is a wide selection of take always 43 to be exact, from chimes to Indian, chip shops – pizza houses. And not to forget Mexican and Italian you will be spoilt for choice but if you would prefer to eat in then why not try one of the 41 restaurants that East Kilbride has to offer. There is also a nice selection of café's for those of you who just want a nice cup of coffee. And as for things to do while visiting then why not go to the east Kilbride shopping centre where you can shop till you drop and still not have covered half of the shops they have to offer there are over 150 shops and around 30 places to eat all under one very large roof, the shopping centre also has an ice rink where you can spend some nice relaxing time on the ice, they have a very large library so if you need to look something up or want to go on the internet then why not drop in, they also have on offer a bingo hall and a multi scream cinema.
While here why not visit the Museum of Scottish country life. And don't for get to go to one of the many country parks that can be found her as well, my personal favourite is the Calder glean country park, where you can just walk for hours and still never cover the hole park, the also have a mini zoo, children's play parks, and floral gardens all of which are free to visit, we try to take out kids here most weekends when we don't have other things planned, it is that nice here that we have even been know to go for a nice walk there in the rain. And if all the things that East Kilbride it's self has to offer isn't enough to fill up your time then why not go to Glasgow and take a trip around the transport museum, or even the science museum. Visit on of the art galleries or go to the theatre. My little boy went to the Glasgow theatre with his nursery last year to see Aladdin and has been nagging me to take him back ever since. Take a visit to the trade's hall of Glasgow, the Victorian park and fossil grove, great place to go for a nice relaxing walk. If you want to go shopping for a bargain then don't forget to visit the Barras. And one of the things everyone tells me is good but I haven't had a chance to visit yet is the tall ship at the Glasgow harbour. And don't for get to visit Pollok house at the Pollok country park. Other surrounding towns to visit would be Blantyre to see the David Livingston centre, Uddingston to see the Bothwell castle. You can visit the Weavers cottage museum in Airdrie, or the summerlee heritage centre in Coatbridge. Or visit the New Lanark world heritage village and see how people lived hundreds of years ago. And in Lanark you can go and see the Craignethan castle. In Biggar you can visit the Gladstone court street museum, the Green farm standing, the Greenhill covenanters house to the Moat Park Heritage centre. So for a fun filled holiday weather you are going on your own, with a loved one or as a family then East Kilbride is a great choice of places to stay." Was this recommendation useful?
