"Calderglen Country Park was opened to the public in 1982. It is mostly a wooded glen, with several attractive waterfalls which personally I thought were just lovely. There is also a children's zoo with a wide variety of animals including snakes, owls, guinea pigs and other animals and a monthly animal magic session for the kids.
The Eight miles of nature trails make up this wooded glen, nature lover can explore the area around the banks of the river Calder.
The ornamental garden has unusual plants and shrubs and horticultural staff to answer your questions. There is also a very large play area for the little ones to playing, and if you wish u can bring your own BBQ stuff as they have dedicated areas for people who wish to do so. There are also areas where you can go fishing.
Events - Throughout the year there are a variety of events held at the park including a country fair and auto rally.
The visitor centre is open all year, with an audio visual room, history room, gallery, shop, café and the unique 'Hidden Worlds' wildlife experience.
